Start at Ganz Meter Company Ltd, a Hungarian subsidiary of Itron Inc. in Gödöllö. We are looking for a NPI Procurement Leader.


Directly reporting to the NPI Procurement Manager for EMEA and APAC region, you will join a multicultural team of 6 people and managing brand new projects locally. Working in close collaboration with Commodity Managers and transversal Core Teams (Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality), you will represent and be the face of Procurement on all New Product Introduction projects managed by the Itron New Product Development process -
acting as a Program Manager inside procurement organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of component specifications (technological choices, material & cost associated).
  • Analyze objectives of the project and translate them to procurement objectives: Budget, Costs, Quality, Schedule and Quantities.
  • Provide Procurement tasks and milestones to be tracked and managed to the project manager and Core team and manage those deliverables in accordance with NPI check list requirements.
  • Develop TMC (Total Manufacturing Costs) in conjunction with Global Commodity Teams; Finance, Manufacturing Engineering and Development Engineers.
  • Perform technology watch in conjunction with Commodity Management teams and communicate to the core team and Development Engineers (potential innovations, market fluctuations, exhaustive list of fitting suppliers).
  • Participate to all phases of the procurement cycle (Quality, Schedule, Costs and Margin).
  • Ensure a deep collaboration with Commodity Managers on supplier management and selection during project phase with support of data package for RFQ.
  • Provide adequate responses to project needs to the core and product development teams and ensure that any follow-up actions required by Procurement are completed.
  • Ensure that all sourcing and design utilizes Itron Preferred Suppliers, or initiate Itron New Supplier Development Process.
  • Request and facilitate make vs. buy analysis in collaboration with operations, finance,
  • R&D and Global Commodity Management as needed.
  • Participate and/or lead cost reduction workshop events on new projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the supplier base in terms of cost, quality, delivery, service, flexibility in collaboration with Commodity Managers.
  • Participate to the core team phase gate reviews and lead procurement communication through management presentation and along project phases.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Procurement within an international industrial and engineering environment.

  • Proficient in Program Management, with excellent knowledge of Procurement and Supply Chain processes, supplier management and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent cross-functional team leadership skills both internal and external resources.

  • Track record of influencing a driving impact with diverse set of functional stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively in a global work environment based in a remote location.

  • High flexibility with great analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good understanding and interest in electrical and/or mechanical engineering.

  • Fluent English skills, with capacity to drive negotiations and strategic presentations, as well as proficiency in Hungarian language. 

  • Education: Minimum of bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience (Engineering and Business is preferred) is required; Master’s degree preferred.
